49s TeaTime
49's is a popular UK lottery game
in which players bet on the outcome of the lottery rather than the lottery
itself. Draws occur twice daily at 12:49 and 17:49 local time and are
broadcast live by Satellite Information Services in participating betting
shops. Results are published on the official 49's website and on participating
bookmaker websites shortly after the completion of each draw. Players can enter
up to 15 minutes before each draw. Because players are betting on the game's outcome rather than the game itself, any amount can be staked; however,
some bookmakers apply stake and payout limits when playing 49s, which players
should be aware of before trying to place bets. Bookmakers offer multiple ways
to play 49s, with the most common options being as follows: Choose up to six
numbers from 1 to 49. Players must match their chosen numbers to win, with
manual-choice or lucky-dip opportunities available. Bet on whether the bonus
ball will be odd or even. Bet on whether the first drawn number will be odd or
even. Bet whether the sum of all drawn numbers will fall within a specific
range or over/under a particular total. Bet on the color of the first and last
balls drawn. Bet on the bonus ball only. Players interested in playing
49s should check multiple bookmakers to explore the availability of different bets and ways to play.

authorized retailers and partner sites. The cost of each key depends
on how much you want to wager.
Drawing Time and Schedule
UK 49's is a twice-daily
game. The first drawing is at lunchtime and is at approximately 12:49
PM BST. The second draw is held at Teatime, at approximately 4:49 PM
or 5:49 PM BST, depending on the month of the year.
Getting Started at 49's.co. the UK
Again, don't expect (at this
time) to be able to place your bets directly through 49s.co.uk's website.
It does say on their home page, "Sorry! Our new website will be up and
running as soon as possible!" so I guess they do plan on offering betting
on their games direct. Not sure how long this process will take, but for now,
each game directs players to a bookie in the UK for play.
49's Ltd and their Games
49s.co.uk offers five games to
bet on – 49's, Irish Lotto, Virtual Horse Racing, Virtual Greyhound Racing, and
Rapido. Our initial impression is their website is set up to encourage
bookmakers versus clarification on the games mainly as the only explanation on
how it works through their "Brand" menu.
More on their Games
49s is played twice a day
(lunchtime guessing at noon-ish and tea time around 16:49 GMT), seven days a
week, with players choosing three numbers. Players have numbers 1-49 to choose
from. The draw itself pulls six balls plus the booster ball. Rapido is a bit more confusing as there are various options depending on what you want to bet up to
pick 10 numbers. The draw involves "lozenges" from 1 to 80 with twenty
numbers drawn. It is played a morning daily.
Virtual Horse Racing and Greyhound Racing
Note the word virtual here. Each
virtual horse or greyhound has odds identified, determining the number of
assigned balls to each racer. A "random number generator" calculates 1st, 2nd,
and 3rd down to the last. Betters can experience the game at their local
betting shop. It looks like one race a day, and they emphasize that no
races are canceled due to bad weather.
Irish Lotto Betting at 49s.co.uk
Last but not least is betting on
the official National Irish Lotto. This takes place twice a week (Wednesday
& Saturday), with 3 draws each day. It looks like they pay out on nailing
three numbers, though it could depend on different bookmakers.
49s.co.uk Customer Service
This online betting site is
registered in Wales & England with a post office box in London. 49's Ltd.
also has an email address but no telephone number, online form, or live chat.
Keep in mind; that you can't play through this site now. Players are directed
to talk to their local bookmaker for more information, especially about what they can
win. It's not a surprise, as players must be from and in the UK to play
– and 18 years or older.
The Bottom Line at 49's Ltd.
Though winning is winning, this
is a betting site with products developed and operated by
49s.co.uk – this is not your standard lotteries, and don't look for those mega
jackpots.
Pros:
Some Things to Do at Tea Time
Collect Your Winnings As You Play
– we think
Somewhere to Go to Place Bets
Cons:
No Online Play – at this time
No Real Lotteries
No Mega Jackpots
49s.co.uk doesn't get a thumbs up or thumbs down – it's just plain weird. If you live in the UK and have nothing better to do around Teatime, then heading to the local bookie to play 49's might be a bit of a hoot. For the team and me, we're going to stick to our lotteries.
